I was a curious child, who was evoked with inspiration for a curiosity for colour, silhouette, shape, texture and reflection. I am still curious about how things connect and the limitless boundaries of construction.
Hence, I design objects that are sculptural in floral, wire, paper, mosaic, textiles, paper and jewellery.
I borrow these ideas from nature, our natural light source, the sun and the ocean. From this observation, I proceed to construct and craft whimsical visual and tactile pieces, which give others and myself pleasure.
My Indian heritage and West African days help me define who I am, where I immerse myself in gorgeous colours, shapes and texture. I am passionate about the female form and movement, whether it?s a diver off a board or a dancer. On the other hand, just to name a few, the image of a rotating wheel, a spinning top or a jellyfish pushing through the water, excite my senses.
In the late 70?s I studied Fashion Design at Bentley TAFE, WA. I hopped and travelled to exotic lands and packed into my pouch all my experiences. With this, it has allowed me to express my creative nature.
